Jennifer Lynn Marcum, 26, was born at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, CO while her father, Robert Marcum, served in the Air Force as an air traffic controller and radar repairman. Jennifer grew up in Springfield, Illinois where she attended Lanphier High School. She enjoyed sports, particularly volleyball. “She liked to shop, dance and put on make up,” said her mother, Mary Willis.
Her parents divorced when Jennifer was a toddler. At 17 Jennifer had her own apartment and worked in the fast food business in the Springfield area. In 1997 She married Clarence Hoyle. He enlisted in the Army and they were stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. There Jennifer met Jeff Wiggins with whom she had a son, Austin.
Jennifer was outgoing, fun to be around and had lots of friends. During this period she stayed in touch with her parents back in the midwest.
In early 1999, Jennifer started working at Shotgun Willie’s, a club in Glendale, CO. She was featured in a March 11, 1999 story in Fox Files. Jennifer said she was trying to earn enough money to insure a better life for her son, then 19 months.
Jennifer, who was 5’6″, 115 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair, disappeared and may have been murdered in early 2003. She was last seen on February 17, 2003 in the vicinity of the 8500 block of Peña Blvd near the Denver International Airport. Her brown, 1999 four-door Saturn was later found abandoned there.
Jennifer’s loss is also mourned by her sister, Tammy Marcum and her half-siblings Natalie & Kyle.
