On the evening of April 1, 1980 members of the Denver Police Department responded to an auto repair shop, named Mario’s Transmission, near the intersection of West 44th Avenue and Clay Street. While at this location it was discovered that both 23 year old Frank Lopez and his stepfather, Mario Horta, had been shot to death.
