David Gonzales (Shuker) attended Smoky Hill High School and William Smith School in Aurora. He enjoyed drawing and playing video games. David liked football and basketball. He worked up to a blue belt in Sabaki (Eushin Karate). David took his bible with him wherever he went and aspired to be a youth pastor. David took on a family when he was 16, moving in with his girl friend, Veronica, and her baby girl, Adella. His mother, Pamela Shuker, describes him as very outgoing and a good family man. David had two daughters with Veronica: Arianna and Aloinna. In January 2004, David, 24, went to a party in the 2500 block of South Sherman in Denver with a friend, James, who got into an argument with three other people and the antagonists were asked to leave. David was outside waiting for his friend when the people who were involved in the argument drove by and shot him three times.
