On December 23, 1995 officers were called to the Coal Creek Arena and Rodeo Grounds. A young black male was found at the back of the rodeo grounds with numerous gunshot wounds. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office responded and determined the victim died between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 a.m. The victim was identified five days later as Mr. Craig Bridges by use of fingerprints and associated to the address of 4201 Don Tomaso Drive, Los Angeles, CA. It was believed that Mr. Bridges was a Crip gang member. Investigation led detectives to the mother of Mr. Bridges, who advised she had put her son on a plane from the Los Angeles Airport and thought he was flying to Kansas City, Missouri. She advised during her son’s stay out of state, he called and gave her a telephone number and an extension number where she could reach him in case of an emergency. Investigation revealed Mr. Bridges had been staying at the Travelers Motel, 14200 E. 6th Avenue with a black male, who had given a California’s Driver’s License as identification. The license may have been counterfeit. Also staying in the room with Mr. Bridges was a black female with blonde hair. Her identity was not established.
