Manuel “Tom” Avalos, 27, attended Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Colorado. He never married. He was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Brighton. Tom Avalos was shot early Sunday, August 30, 1987 outside D.J.s Lounge in Lafayette. He died September 4th at St. Anthony”s Central in Denver.
On 2/28/2005, the Lafayette Police department called the Avalos family to tell them the individual responsible for the murder of Tom had been arrested. The killer had fled to Mexico and was being prosecuted under an agreement between Colorado and Mexico. This crime is solved!
