A softball tournament is played each year in memory of popular Brad Amack in Brush, Colorado. As many as eighteen teams enter. Proceeds from the entry fees are donated for scholarships at Morgan Community College for Northeast Colorado students who want to go into forestry.
Brad earned an Associates degree from the school, then attended Colorado State University prior to the homicide that took his life. Brad liked fishing, camping and back-packing. Every chance he’d get, he’d take his tent and go off to the mountains.
Brad was at a party in Evans on January 1, 1998 when he was hit in the face by Mark Anderson of Arvada. Brad died from a brain hemorrage. Anderson was arrested but the Weld County District Attorney declined to prosecute. Brad leaves his parents, Walter & Donna Amack, of Brush.
