Patrick Housand was the youngest of twelve children of whom seven survived. After he graduated from Denver”s Annunciation Catholic School, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer during the Korean conflict. Then he joined the Seabees where he served four years.
Upon Patrick”s return to Colorado, his brother got him a job as an apprentice electrician. He was a journeyman when he met his future wife, Marilyn. They were married July 20, 1963. To this union were born two boys – Dan and David – and two girls – Jennifer and Jolene.
Patrick worked construction throughout Colorado. Then he joined the workforce at Rocky Flats for 12 years. Patrick was very active in Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Conifer. A member of Knights of Columbus, his family was very important to him. Marilyn described him as “a very gentle person who cared about people.”
Patrick was outside his home in Aspen Park on the morning of May 28, 2005, preparing to go to work. He was a retired electrician, but he had taken on a part-time job at a discount store. Patrick was beaten to death near his garage. Investigators say it was not a random crime but they have no idea why he was targeted.
